K2 Arrow Co. Component Installation Guide
Thank you for choosing K2 Arrow Co. Every component is engineered with tight tolerances to deliver maximum consistency, durability, and accuracy. To ensure the best performance, follow the steps below when installing your inserts and outserts.
Tools & Materials Needed
K2 Arrow Co. shafts
K2 Arrow Co. inserts/outserts with sleeves
Recommended adhesive: 2-part epoxy (for maximum bond strength and durability)
Alternative adhesives: arrow-specific epoxies, slow-set hot melt (for some aluminum components), or other high-strength adhesives (manufacturer approved)
Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
Cotton swabs or pipe cleaners
Mixing surface & applicator (if using 2-part epoxy)
Paper towels
Installation Steps
1. Prepare the Shaft
- Cut shafts to your desired length before component installation.
- Square both ends of the shaft using a squaring tool for precise component alignment.
- Clean the inside of the shaft with a cotton swab or pipe cleaner dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Allow to fully dry.
2. Prepare the Components
- Lightly scuff the bonding surface of the post, insert, and sleeve with fine sandpaper if desired (optional but can increase adhesion).
- Wipe clean with alcohol to remove any oils or debris.
3. Mix Adhesive
- If using 2-part epoxy, follow manufacturer’s mixing instructions.
- Mix only as much as needed for a few arrows at a time to prevent premature curing.
4. Apply Adhesive
- Important: Both the post/insert and the sleeve must be glued to the shaft for maximum durability. These are not press-fit sleeves.
- Coat the bonding surface of the insert/post evenly with adhesive.
- Apply a thin layer inside the shaft opening as well for complete coverage.
- Spread adhesive evenly around the shaft’s outside end where the sleeve will seat.
- Avoid over-applying to minimize cleanup.
5. Install Components
- Slowly rotate the insert/post as you push it fully into the shaft.
- Slide the sleeve into place, ensuring it seats flush against the shaft and over the post/insert.
- Wipe away excess adhesive immediately with a paper towel.
6. Cure Time
- Allow the adhesive to fully cure according to manufacturer instructions (typically 12–24 hours for epoxy).
- Do not shoot arrows until adhesive is fully cured.
Notes & Recommendations
- Best performance is achieved with a quality 2-part epoxy, but other strong adhesives can be used successfully.
- Avoid fast-set or brittle glues (e.g., superglue/cyanoacrylate) as they may not provide long-term bond strength.
- Always check component alignment before the adhesive sets.
Safety Reminder
Inspect arrows regularly for damage. Discontinue use if cracks, bends, or loosened components are observed. Proper installation ensures safe, consistent performance in the field.
